Carroburg Campaign Sessions 20:
We restarted on 33rd Sommerzeit, with two areas of work.
First, there was the investiture of a new Prioress at the Struppel priory.
Leif Aelfricsson invited as he (Frijtore) did construction work, hence Agneta
Lena Bleich is there to represent Cult of Morr, hence Abigail.
Because of the current unrest, few others go. However, Imperial interests need to be represented in the pursuit of equal polytheism – Johannes can be spared.
Of interest, you met Ritter Udo von Nie again, and also saw Brothher Aelfric (your old Way of the Wolf mentor). Baron Klaus von Meyer (the Sigmarite Lector) was also present, and seemed the consummate diplomat.
Abigail picked up a generally sullen atmosphere, that seemed more than simply the Priory “in mourning”. She could also find no evidence that the Cult of Morr had actually presided over the Prioress’ burial. Or even how she died, “a tragic accident”. The others knew rather more of the backstory, and believed that ‘someone’ had equalled things up.
Still, the new Prioress was somewhat surprisingly from the Queen of the Wood sect, and not either Inge Snobbislakt-Hoger or Camille Romand, more expected.
The investiture itself was a fairly dull affair.
Abigail discovered more about the Queen of the Wood sect. The previous leader had died of old age, and two members had left after this. Janna Manzel (returned to family business – woodworkers - in Carroburg) and Elsa Glaubrecht (turned up dead in Carroburg, the victim of a robbery). Nothing concrete surfaced, outside of religious politicking.
The second job consisted of investigating in the north-west corner of Carroburg.
Someone had stolen the city wall, and undermined a closed tower. Because of an old statute the Empire was responsible for tower walls, and so Johannes was asked to examine the situation. Abigail was also asked to go there, to investigate the disappearance of a Frijtore overseer. And Abigail was also sent there, as bones had been discovered, and cannibalism was feared. However, the Demon Prowler was also reputed to frequent here. Werner Krippon has also disappeared around here, and there was a 50GC reward for his return.
You discovered a harpy in the tower. Abigail reported it, and the authorities dealt with the issue … by bricking up the door. You ultimately killed it, and found Werner there with the creature in a love nest. With his love child. Or at least their egg. You returned Werner, who swore vengeance on you since you smashed his egg. And you handed over the body of the Prowler, after removing a tattoo from it – the von Trostler crest.
More generally, two PCs wandering the city alone were attacked by dishevelled young men, who looked ill. Drug-related crime is on the rise, it seems. Johannes’ contacts suggested that Pogo Johnny had a “new man” supplying good, cheap drugs.
Finally, Pieter witnessed some fighting at an Old Faith ceremony involving the Vermen street gang, who were supporting "the Way to the Beast".
Abigail needs to resolve a gained insanity.
Abigail, Agneta and Johannes each gain +1d6+1 (max 6) social level points.
