Carroburg Campaign Sessions 15

We restarted on the 10th, with Aldhelm awoken, rather roughly, by a servant of the Cult of Mórr with a request to attend upon Lena Bleich, the senior cleric in the city. After making an insulting (if not heretical comment) he did so. Aldhelm’s medical knowledge was required for a very secret purpose. He agreed not to divulge anything from his visit (and, of course, then went and blabbed later) on the basis that the Cult would not reveal his Toulon persona to the authorities. The Cult is responsible for posting death notices, and was concerned that a body dumped upon them had died of plague. The body was of a child, obviously poor and probably homeless. He had died of some contagion, but not the plague.

Unfortunately, Aldhelm recognised the child, realising that he had delivered the party a note last session. He immediately realised that the party might also have the contagion, and they had. Pieter quickly realised that the source was the note. That he had been carrying and re-reading for some time. In your attempts to get healed, not only did you blab, but you have now spread rumours throughout the city that the plague is about. But you all got cured, so that is okay. At least you think you are cured...

Agneta was found to be missing, but you failed to find any trace of her. Eventually, a suspicious cargo loaded onto a suspicious Frijtore boat led you to her. She had been captured and was intended for Erhard Reitzman, according to the boat captain who was intimidated by a vengeful Pieter. It seems that master Hertwig had handed her over, although there is no definitive proof. However, she is no longer welcome at her old quarters, and Hertwig has a new (younger, better looking) apprentice.

A visit to Reitzman’s house was determined. A cunning plan turned into something of a bloodbath. Reitzman escaped, but his household did not. His mercenary bodyguard fought valiantly, particularly after quarter was refused him. He slew the Man With One Arm and Too Many Names and badly wounded Pieter. The Watch forced you all to flee the scene, dumping "Jurgen"’s body unceremoniously. You reckoned on a successful escape, but the Cult of Mórr rounded you up the following day. They are livid at your breach of trust, but seemed surprisingly happy on the attack on Reitzman. He leads the Frater, who are at odds with the main Cult, of course. The Cult offers you a job out the city; you accept.

One last item. Agneta visited again Captain Schnork with a view to obtaining a magic licence. She even offers her services as an assassin for a warrant, rather surprising the good Captain! The Captain states that she will consider an offer.

We recommence on the morning of the 13th with you about to depart the city.
