Carroburg Campaign 04: Morning of 8th Pflugzeit

You continued the investigation, concluding that Erich Govain was probably behind it. Given his level of influence, you managed to concoct a story against the likely innocent Ewald Kerch and Grombur persuaded his contacts in the Watch.

During the course of your questions you learned of the Great Realm. This is a belief in some form of socialist utopia. You later found that everything entering the city was being searched for weapons, primarily because an insurrection by these people was feared. Pieter owes the raker who informed you of this a favour. Aldhelm’s parents’ pharmacy was given as a location that information could be given to a raker who seemed very interested to know why you were asking about the Great Realm.

Johan was engaged by Dorothie Lustig to assist her to fleece a Marienburg merchant.

Pieter was placed in charge of the expedition to Felsenheim, you each having a duty. The warrant assigns you a certain degree of latitude to act on behalf of the Woodworkers Guild. You were accompanied by Klaus, driving the cart of supplies, Franz and his six dogs and two beadles, Bek and Krell.

At Gruuthuse, you met up with Marlene again, briefly. At Mischer, you helped the local priest of Mórr prove that a suicide, implicating Ritter Fulk von Deiber, was a fraud. You arrived safely at Carolhof, where the two wizard apprentices visited the shrines and similar sites of (historic) interest.

At the tavern that night, a number of things occurred. A group of men in the livery of Freiherr Margritte von Prokkt-Snobbislakt met with some (local) thuggish mercenary types. A woman burnt a scroll that night, despite Johanes’ objections. The steward of the lord invited a lone woman traveller, probably an initiate, to the manor as the tavern was no place for her.

Later that night, you were all awakened by a shriek and a plea for help at the door. The innkeeper refused to let you open the door, ultimately shooting Johan. You returned to bed. Oddly, the liveried soldiers did not appear to investigate. That morning Piete thought he found a trail of covered drag marks, and the dogs followed the scent to Eberitter Hans von Bildhofen’s manor house. They also found a scent that led into the forest. Following this for approximately 5 miles lead you to a tree henge in a clearing. Pieter thought this an Old Faith site, but on a fallen tree in the centre were three skulls, each marked with a ‘D’. These were a wolf, a stag and something unrecognisable. You also found another set of tracks leading to a tree. Under the roots was a space into which steps had been dug. This led to a barred door. Opening it, you were accosted by two deranged, loose-limbed and very smelly people. You killed them. You decided to wait the night here, watching for any visitors. However, you all fell asleep and saw no one. You then decided to take the bodies to the ‘local authorities’. You received the thanks and a small reward from the steward. Later, you saw a small cart heading up the road to Felsenheim; you conjectured that the bodies were on this. They were taken to an assarter’s shack.

We left the session on the evening of the 9th, as the woman burns another book that night, and the night otherwise passes peacefully.
