Introducing the new improved 4th edition version of Expedition to Undermountain.
7 weeks ago the sleepy town of neverwinter suffered a terrible earthquake. Worse were the visions and images that plagued the nearby arcane users of a dishevelled man screaming and an all pervading scene of darkness.
Driven by hopes of expunging these visions from their dreams, thousands have flocked to Undermountain forming parties of brave souls set to delve the sane consuming Undermountain.
Such dangerous sights the party have encountered, from the shrieking well of chittering legs, dark skinned stranglers in crawl spaces, bone walkways held firm with ligments, gnomes stealing from the drow and of course who could forget the librarian from heaven and hell.
Yet it was one night in those foul chambers under the earth that changed their lives forever, the black mist of evil bonding with their mortal coils, wrenching muscle from bone, brain from thought, death from life and then crammed it all back together like an overstuff patchwork doll.
Before their change they stood strong and proud in who they were:
Driven by their new powers and their new “associate”, they dredge their boots deeper into Undermountain then most mortals have dared to speak of.
Though the question remains.... will they ever see sunlight again?
New Characters Information

See you at the table,

Undermountain and the city of Neverwinter now lie safely protected from the liches of the Twisted Ruin by Halasters great ward. However our brave adventures are not as fortunate as boulders as big as houses gain pace on their decent down the opening wound of the mighty rupturing crevasse.
Desperately the heroes roll and throw their weight to avoid the jagged outcrops that remain protruding from the splitting earth ahead. A shaft of shining light ahead brings them fleeting hope. There is no way that they will get there before they are crushed by the landslide that equates to a mountain.
BOOM, the crevasse shakes as a the Crystal far gives it’s death cry in an massive explosion of magical energy. Magical energy cascading down the shaft splinters the boulders, the shockwave throwing the heroes through the opening of light onto a sloped cliff ledge. They quickly roll from the mouth of the crevasse to safety as a mountain of debris spews forth.
Some lay dead, buried beneath the tonnes of earth from Undermountain and as the few survivors lay to catch their breath they see their weapons, armor and items glowing with intense brightness.
Still panting, they pull themselves together and cast their eyes over the edge of the cliff to see what issues the light that saved their lives and it was at that moment that they wished they could change places with their dead comrades buried deep within the stone.
There was no doubt in their minds. This was the unspeakable evil that Halaster had sent visions of through his death screams. This is why his wards had to be finished. Death at these hands would slow, unforgiving and torturous. If this could not be stopped then it would surely mean death of it all.
Only another journey might subvert it.....
