TimCon V: Background
TimCon V is the fifth "mini-convention" for WFRP players by WFRP players. We held the first TimCon event on the 10th April 2004, and it was so successful that we have been repeating it ever since! The formula is simply a bunch of WFRP mates meeting up to play and talk WFRP. After Dragonmeet 2003 (and GenCon, and Dragonmeet 2002...), a number of us who had met up, played, gone down the pub etc remarked how silly it was that we waited for a Con to meet up and spend about £7 to get in just for the privilege of talking to each other and playing the games that we wrote. With this in mind, I began thinking of the possibility of running a 'meet-up' cum Con for a group of WFRP friends, run at a smaller venue with a fee only as necessary to cover hire costs. Hence TimCon01 - and we’re now up to TimCon V. Everyone is welcome. Whilst we have a strong proportion of repeaters, we also have new attendees every time - and you can be one of those.

TimCon V: Details
TimCon V is to be held over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday September 2nd and 3rd.

The idea is to operate two full day events here at the Northfields Community Centre where my club, Shadow Warriors, play. We are running in conjunction with Shadow Con II, a wider convention being run by Shadow Warriors. This will allow us to mix with other games too. You can check out Shadow Con II.

The day will run 10am - 2pm and 3pm - 7pm in two basic slots with a lunch break. There will be two sessions of games, written and run by attendees. Everyone who attends will play in two pre-selected games, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Each game will run for around 4 hours. The games are outlined below.

Everyone who wishes to come needs to pre-book with me. This will ensure that everyone gets a game. You can check out the timetable below.

The cost covers the room hire. Costs are as follows:

£5 for one day

£9 for two days

Drop me an email at timothyeccles@hotmail.com to book your place and I’ll confirm where to send payment.

Any questions let me know. You can also follow a discussion on TimCON on the Strike-to-Stun forum at http://www.strike-to-stun.com/board/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1705&start=0

TimCon V Games
The following games will run on the day.

Witches Coven
Saturday 2nd September AM.
Location - Main Hall
GM: Wim van Gruisen
Tonight is Geheimnisnacht, and Morrslieb will be lighting the old stone circle in a sickly pale green light. Your coven will meet on this Night of Nights, to perform your old rituals, show the new stuff you are working on and to scry and decide upon the future of the coven.

You'd better hurry. The sun is already setting and you shouldn't be late.

Who was Hans Kotter of Ensendorf?
Saturday 2nd September AM.
Location - Room 2

GM: John Foody
That is the question you asked yourself when you opened the letter from Altdorf. You have been summoned to the reading of his will but are certain that you never meet the man. Still, here you are and you don't like the lawyer one little bit.

This game was run at TimCon IV, and is repeated by popular demand.

Changes
(Turn and face the strange….)
Saturday 2nd September AM.
Location - Room 2

GM: Lee Allen
The Time of Changes fast approaches - all praise The Great Mutator. Let the faithful bask in the uncertainty of their enemies. Let that which once was one fly apart. Let the minions of the Great Enemy, the Corruptor, quake and gnash their teeth in despair.

All the portents point to a great surge in the fortunes of Chaos and the Southern Empire as where the forces of Tzeentch need to weave their insidious webs. But it seems the diseased followers of the Great Stench have got there first and hold sway with a mighty champion the lands Tzeentch would claim for his own. Called to the great Herdstone in the Grey Mountains, you are charged with investigating a once prosperous village that appears to have fallen into the clutches of the Lord of Decay and removing the one who keeps the area under the thrall of disease.

A game for players taking the roles of a Tzeentchian ‘hit squad’ sent to investigate what appears to be an area held by the forces of Nurgle. A fine excuse for you to revel in of all of those cool mutations and magic that would normally rush you to the front of the line for a quick burning - no trial.

Shooting Star
Saturday 2nd September PM.
Location - Main Hall

GM: Dark Knight of the Twisted Moon
The new star appeared three days ago, circling the heavens, in an erratic orbit, several times in a single night. Then, following a blinding flash across the skies, it plummeted to earth in the Averland forest not far from your home town of Agbeiten.Over the next two days reports started to filter in from local Woodsmen, Charcoal-burners and the like, of a crash site approximately fifteen miles from the town, and of swathes of forest flattened by the force of the impact. The Empyrean Society of Agbeiten has decided to send an expedition to the crater, to see what can be learnt from the remains of the fallen star. It is imperative that the Society acts quickly, before their better funded rivals, the Notional Astronomer's Society of Averheim, can mount an expedition, and claim the academic glory. As a leading member of the Society, it was never in doubt that your presence would be required amongst the field-party, but you are surprised by the eccentric assistants who have been chosen, from amongst your peers, to accompany you.

A Short Adventure
Saturday 2nd September PM.
Location - Room 2

GM: Simon Crowe
The big people are so generous! The merchant caravan arriving in your Mootland village was the perfect excuse for a party (not that Halflings need an excuse), and those Humans have even provided wine for everyone. Tastes a bit funny though, and you're beginning to feel ever so sleepy. Still, those big folk are so nice... zzzzzz

A group of Halflings wake up far away from their peaceful home and find themselves caught up in sinister schemes. Can they make their bid for freedom and find their way back to the Moot?

The Spice is Right
Saturday 2nd September PM.
Location - Room 2

GM: Steven Hanlon
A perfect opportunity for ambitious young gentlemen looking to get ahead! Patron seeks creative thinkers with big ideas for a low risk, high return overseas trading venture. No experience necessary. Adventure and profit guaranteed!

Nothing can possibly go wrong....

The Halfling Who Was Besprechentag: A Nightmare
Sunday 3rd September AM.
Location - Room 2

GM: Dark Knight of the Twisted Moon
Things in The Moot must change! For too long the common Halfling has laboured under the oppressive yoke of Humanity; has suffered under the lash of Humanity's flunkeys - the Elders of The Moot; has submitted to the dictates of the arch-sycophant - Hisme Stoutheart. At best the Humans treat your kindred as nothing more than greedy layabouts, whilst taking your harvests to feed their cities, and spending Halfling lives holding the frontier against the uncanny creatures of Sylvania. More often your people are treated as light-fingered thieves, and used as scapegoats wherever Human ventures meet with failure.

It is time that this state of affairs was brought to a halt. Time for Halflings to take their rightful place in the world, as an egalitarian fraternity able to deal on politically equal (and morally superior) terms with the dictatorial Human societies around them. You, the members of the anarchist Council of the Days, are the key proponents for instigating this change, and you have gathered to plan an attack of such audacity that it will bring the current social order of The Moot crashing to the ground. But you must beware; the agents of Hisme Stoutheart, and his Imperial master are everywhere, and nothing must spoil your plans before they come to fruition.

Lost & Found
Sunday 3rd September AM.
Location - Room 2

GM: Simon Crowe
After a terrifying shipwreck a group of disparate survivors wash up on a deserted island. They have no idea where they are and only sketchy memories of who they are. Can the group uncover the secrets of the island, regain their forgotten memories and escape? Or will they be lost forever?

Spellbound
Sunday 3rd September AM.
Location - Main Hall

GM: Rich Pingree
A madcap monastic mystery.

In the remote monastery of Bijenkorf, the Cult of the Sacred Bee is making the final preparations for their annual spelling contest. Participants have come from near and far to test their vocabulary, earn the blessings of Verena and perhaps take home the grand prize. As monks, locals and hopeful competitors, you have been looking forward to the contest for months. But could an uninvited guest spell trouble?

Bubba Lichemaster
Sunday 3rd September PM.
Location - Room 2

GM: John Foody
Old age in the Old World is a terrible thing. A few are lucky or rich enough to find refuge in Altdorf's St. Ossie's Refuge for the Gerontapidated. Here the clerics tend and care for them even when their minds go. Where else would those claiming to be gods, heroes and villains be tolerated. But Evil (with a capital L) stalks these corridors and legends must rise again to defeat it.....

An epic scenario with very bad movement scores in and the first to feature Sigmar - God of the Empire, The Great Enchanter Drachenfels, Josef Bugman and The Elf Viss from the House of Mem Phis.

Bled Dry In Altdorf
Sunday 3rd September PM.
Location - Room 2

GM: Robert Rees
There's a murderer in Altdorf and he's got a taste for society ladies, no-one is safe and General Atamark (retd.) is hired to protect the beautiful is somewhat wilful Lady Askor from the killer's blade. Can Atamark solve the murders and keep the Lady safe? Only with some serious help from his faithful footman Erich, his equally wilful daughter Greta and the other "gifted" employees of Altdorf's best investigation house "Atamarks Investigations"

To hull and back: Dread nought - or as little as possible
Sunday
3rd September PM.
Location - Main Hall

GM: Tim Eccles
His Majesty’s Ship Private Enterprise guards this region of the Southern Sea for his Glorious Majesty King Charles III, ensuring safe conduct of all vessels in this region off … the Estalian coast. Okay, you’re a privateer. But you’ve got the letters to prove it. And those small unarmed merchants that you might come across, well they’re obviously pirates.

This trip has not been good, and you have been chased eastwards by pirates (okay, Estalian naval ships). The captain is ruthless at the best of times, and this isn’t. And then, this morning, the lookout spots a strange ship, slowly circling and heading towards the notorious ‘Fang’ of the Fool Point Rocks. It is of a strange construction, being metal clad, and seems to be powered by something other than sails. The opportunity is too good to miss, since as either salvage or looted, its value might be immense - enough even to please the captain.

A small boarding party is sent across by Captain Ahabb in order to assess the possibility of salvage and investigate if it needs assistance (for which a hefty fee may be charged). This party of expert specialists in the field of being expendable is Lieutenant Pugwasch (commanding), Midshipman Pipeplayer, Smee (sailing master’s mate), Kalmée Ishmael, Arquebusier Kweekwekh (of the marines) and Roget Staiyens. Before being sent across, since this is an official expeditionary force on a King’s ship, proper boarding uniforms are broken out. Officers wear yellow, senior NCOs wear blue and the rest wear red. And the Articles of the Sea are read out reminding you of the primary directive to offer aid to all fellow seafarers in difficulty. The captain then says “aweigh team” and you shove off in the jolly boat.

Can you succeed before the ship hits the Fang?

The game will be using figures, plans and props. And puns stolen from every conceivable naval and ship source.
