TimCon III: Background
The idea behind the TimCon mini-conventions was to run games for WFRP players by WFRP players. We held the first TimCon event on the 10th April 2004, and it was so successful that we repeated it. Now we have TimCon III: the TimFest and which will be held on Saturday 26th March 2005. The formula is simply a bunch of WFRP mates meeting up to play and talk WFRP. After Dragonmeet 2003 (and GenCon, and DM 2002...), a number of us who had met up, played, gone down the pub etc remarked how silly it was that we waited for a Con to meet up and spend about £7 to get in just for the privilege of talking to each other and playing the games that we wrote. With this in mind, I began thinking of the possibility of running a 'meet-up' cum Con for a group of WFRP friends, run at a smaller venue with a fee only as necessary to cover hire costs.

We have now had two conventions, each with six games being written and run for the convention. We have also produced a fanzine for attendees with various WFRP articles and other material in. You can click here to see what TimCon 01 looked like, and here for TimCon II details. We have had approximately 40 people turn up to the two events.

TimCon III: Details
TimCon III will take place on Saturday 26th March (Easter Saturday). It costs £4 for which you get entry, two games (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) and a convention fanzine.

The idea is to operate a full day event here at the Northfields Community Centre where my club, Shadow Warriors, play. The day will run 10am - 7pm. We operate in two basic slots with a lunch break. There will be two sessions of games, written and run by attendees. Everyone who attends will play in two pre-selected games, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Everyone who wishes to come will need to pre-book with me. This will ensure that we have enough games for everyone to play, not too many games so that GMs prepare games that will not run, we have enough room (and not too much) and everything that can be planned is. The cost covers the room hire and the cost of a Con fanzine that I am producing as a souvenir and general WFRP fanzine.

All attendees must be over the age of 18 years.

Because I am far from certain that WFRP2 will be out, all games will be played under WFRP 1st edition rules. This might be your last chance to play the old favourite!

TimCon III Games
The following games will run on the day. When you book please state your preferred choices. I will try my best to use these to place you in a game, but obviously will be subject to timetabling and numbers. You are allocated the games prior to the day, so please state your preferences when you book. Thank you!

Gobbo!
Run by Gavin Taylor

"Men of Stirland, stop your dreaming,
Can¹t you see their spikes a-gleaming?
Lo! The green horde comes a-streaming
To this battle- field!"

The despicable orc warboss, Grozbag, has raised a mighty Waaagh! against the unsuspecting folk of the southern Empire and all that stands in his way is a tiny outpost on an inhospitable spit of rocky highland named Gork's Rift.

A tiny outpost manned by you.

A Boy's Own adventure for WFRP. Stiff upper lip optional.

Casting call! You can't have a scenario about "Gobbos! Fousands of 'em!" without the aforementioned fousands, er, thousands. So I'm asking for everyone who can to bring in some miniature green 'extras' for the scenario and for some Con photos. Orcs, goblins, squigs, GW or not, it's all good. Contributors get a beer in thanks.

The Return or "Swords don't kill people, zombies do"
Run by Robert Rees

The mist crept ahead of the lifeless hulks like a living being. It infiltrated the wharves, wrapped itself around the buildings of the town and snuck its fingers into the cracks between wall and window drinking deep of the light and warmth of the living. Driven by an unfelt wind the ships came after it, silent except for the sloshing of their bilges and the crack and groan of their tormented wood. They moved with unrelenting purpose, as certain of their course as migrating birds, returning to their home. The group has been thrown into the town jail for reasons just and unjust on a night when an old evil has returned to seek revenge on their town. They have to escape not just the jail but the whole town or their souls will be forfeit to an unfolding horror.

Low-powered survival horror.

Gnome Place Like Home. ** Due to unforeseen circumstances this game will now not be run. **
Run by Tim Eccles

Carroburg is a respectable, secure middle-class sort of town. The bureaucracy might creak a little, but it works. Unemployment exists, but is pretty rare. The Guilds pretty much offer decent standards of living to their members and value for money for quality products.

Carroburg is located at the fulcrum of Old World politics. Internal Empire politics undermines its notions of tolerance and fairness, the Grand Duke has decided suddenly that he can play at politics (and the mess is spreading), the Bretonnians are bound to be up to something and everything on the river is still effectively blockaded by the damned cheese merchants in Marienburg. A series of murders has shocked and scared the citizens, particularly the rat catchers and rakers who are being off'ed. Extremist religious cults seem to be taking root. And now the gnomes, arguably the economic base for Carroburg's success, have just disappeared!

You have been assembled to discover what has happened. The real powers behind the various economic factions have put together an expeditionary force to investigate. Apparently contact with outlying settlements has also been lost and an earlier joint venture sent by the competing Kwartz and von Roalekz businesses is long overdue. At least it gets you out of the city with all its troubles.

Little House on the Wasteland.
Run by Steve Moss

Marienburg. City of con-men, geezers, wheeler dealers and granny sellers. Unfortunately your family is none of the above and you've never had much luck trading, scheming, conning, ducking, diving or rat racing. You've always dreamed of a better life, a bigger place to live, somewhere bigger than the room you share, somewhere with a garden. As luck would have it you've been provided with a golden opportunity to relocate to somewhere simpler, quieter and a lot less cut throat. You have been offered a small house and a large piece of land by the wealthy House van Haagen. All you have to do is travel deep into the Wasteland, collect the keys and the house is yours.

This is a family adventure. The characters are mom, dad, 2 sons and grandfather. Who knows what perils lie in their path? Is it a scam, are they the only ones who have a claim to it, is it too good to be true? All will be revealed as the Engells family travel to the Little House on the Wasteland.

Clinging to the Skirts of the Unknown.
Run by Dark Knight of the Twisted Moon

If you discounted the diseases, the poisonous wildlife, the stifling humidity, the murderous convicts and sadistic guards, not to mention the back-breaking labour, you thought the worst thing about the Leopoldheim Penal Colony was the boredom. When an Arabyan Slaving Fleet sail into the harbour, prompting the garrison to stand-to in case they haven't come to trade, and warfare breaks out between the local tribes, life suddenly becomes a little too interesting. That's before the raiding impinges on the colony, and you find yourself volunteered to rescue Old Worlder captives, presumably before they are sold to the Arabyans.

Where's Roonheim? ** Due to unforeseen circumstances this game will now not be run. **
Run by John Foody

Middenheim, the height of the carnival and the day before the final of the MUCoS Cup. The Southgate Slammers are taking on the Nordgarten Nobs, recently purchased by a mysterious Kislevian. Excitement is fever pitch as the population look to forget their recent troubles. You know it will be a good match, more so since you have bet heavily on the Slammers to win - bet a large sum of borrowed money. The odds are low but the return is still substantial. No one gives the Nobs a chance as the Slammers have 'Lump' Roonheim on their side. Then 12 hours before the match you hear Roonheim has gone missing from his granny's. Panicked you meet your co-speculators at the Dog and String, when a ominous shadow falls across the table...

Investigation and threat of broken kneecaps to the PCs, everyday folk trying to save their skin in Middenheim.

TimCon III Fanzine
The TimCon III fanzine is entitled Wonderful PRODIGIES of Judgement and Mercy. It is a programme for the day, together with interesting articles about WFRP, Warhammer and roleplaying generally, and various editorialising by myself (Tim Eccles). Pride of place is Clive Oldfield's hilarious…, well you'll just have to come and read it. You cannot get better empirical proof that amateurs write better than pro's. Brilliant stuff! Please note that in order to comply with Games Workshop's IP policy this fanzine is not for sale and is given away free to TimCon III attendees only. You can check out previous fanzines on my WFRP page.

Who Do I pay?
The cost of the convention is £4. You can pay as follows:

By cheque to me at:

Tim Eccles
School of Surveying and Gunnery
Nuln University
Knights Park
Kingston
Surrey
KT1 2QJ

By Paypal to me at:
timothyeccles@yahoo.co.uk

If you cannot attend the convention, but want to buy a copy of the fanzine, then you can use the same methods to pay for a copy at a price of £2 in the UK, £3 in the EU and £4 rest of the world (including the USA). Please note that technically this makes you an attendee to the convention, who simply does not turn up. Yes, it is stupid but Games Workshop prevent the production of any fanzine using their IP; therefore, we are simply producing a convention programme.

TimCon III: After Con Events
Obviously there will be time after the event for socialising etc. Last time we had a few drinks and went out for a meal til late.

TimCon III: Before Con Events - TIMCEPTION

FIRST EVER WFRP2 CONVENTION - probably
Friday 25th March

We will be holding the first ever WFRP2 convention on the Friday night before TimCon III, despite WFRP2 having been put back. All TimCon delegates are invited, and about two thirds have promised to attend.

There will also be a free first ever WFRP2 fanzine for those attending, provisionally called Hope That Clears This Issue Up Chaps. Articles include my (Tim Eccles) usual rubbish, two short pieces by Alfred Nunez Jnr (including a comparison of electors WFRP1 - WFRP2) and, as a last farewell to WFRP1 before WFBR2 takes over, the Southlands are examined by Dark Knight of the Twisted Moon.

Highlight of the evening will be Wim van Gruisen talking about the Liber Fanatica and with a few juicy tidbits.

Obviously the NDA will not be broken.

TimCon III: Legal Bits
There are two primary advantages of running Tim Con at Northfields. The first is, obviously, easy for me, but it has good public transport and road links - and car parking on site. The second is the legal stuff. The centre is managed and operated by the London Borough of Ealing and so has all of the relevant liability insurance, fire certification etc and is set up in accordance with health and safety etc legislation. You can be assured that the site is safe and secure, and well managed. Please note that attendance is for 18+ years only and entirely at your own risk.

Final legal bit: this is an unofficial convention. All trademarks and games are run without permission of Black Industries, Games Workshop and Green Ronin. This convention continues a long tradition of fan writing for role-playing products, and in no way challenges ownership of any and all trademark and copyright ownership. Warhammer FRP, its mechanics and terms are owned by Games Workshop Ltd. All adventures are entirely fictional and pieces of fantasy fiction. Any similarities to real persons, living or dead, are entirely coincidental. All relevant trademarks and copyrights are used without permission and in no way meant to challenge ownership to them by Games Workshop. TimCon III fully recognises said copyright and trademark ownership with full acknowledgement of the intellectual ownership and legal copyright ownership of that material. This is simply a convention run by fans for other fans. It is non-profit making, the cost covering the room hire that we as a club do every week. The fanzine is a free give-away and is not being sold.
