Summary 62

Sisyraba, the new character, is an escaped slave. There is evidence of her being tortured - someone has taken a knife to her face. She is also gaunt, starved and dressed in very tatty clothing.

You have met up with Nedylene Alamein, one of the elite in House Alamein. That makes her nobility in anyone’s books. Even to visiting strangers. Especially to aliens in a foreign land in need of help.

She took the possessions of your kill, infuriating you. Even though, she had fresh men with her, a number of you decided to abuse her. Fortunately, the main culprit, Thomas, swore at her in Arcane Language Elf. Whilst she clearly did not recognise this, it startled her and in that state of shock did not register any other abuse. Please see paragraph above.

Intrigued and pleased that your actions had provided her with what she was seeking, she invited you to safe quarters. You were bedded down with the beastmen, who were cleaner than you. Manacles sulked and sulked, and was finally persuaded not to die of exposure by Sisyraba. Thomas and Jakob seem slightly better treated, but, besides most of the party being referred to as cattle (in a language note that is quite obviously neither her first or second tongue), everyone is warm and fed. The beastmen also asked you to wash. Please. Thomas has lost his sword, somewhere.

Nedylene has taken to wearing the dead women’s clothes and possessions in their entirety. Including the blood. This is very odd, but seems to give her respect from her colleagues. More will come on the morning of the day where we restart, as she has even adopted the dead woman’s hairstyle. At least she has cleaned the outfit. And it does look smart now all those tears have been repaired. Her tailor did a good job on that arm.

You told Nedylene the whole story. This rather surprised me as GM! Especially as you know what type of people you are dealing with here. She commented (as has been said before) that Khan is a “barbarian” term, but you remembered (hurrah!!) the term Dux that had been given to you. She promised to arrange to help, if you would show willing to her. She has done nothing to arouse suspicion yet. But perhaps this is suspicious?

The deal is basically this.

You: Attack a laboratory being run by another House. They tell you it carries out horrible experiments (including on humans). Your success will be judged on a sliding scale. There are two books, one purple and one red, likely to be there. They want these and any other notes that you can find. They want you to kill the scientist. And anyone and everyone else. Then burn the place.

Speed must be the key. These places normally have guard dogs to detect intruders (smell/ noise). Therefore, hit it hard and quick, and then get out of there.

A guide will take you in, and get you out.

Her: She will then transport you to a part of the city controlled by her House, where you will be safe. She knows the city and can help guide you around. She might be able to offer some equipment replacement. She can take you to two locations, linked to the Dux. The first is derelict. The second is the Shrine to the Old Ways. This is possessed/guarded on a rota basis, and her House will be taking control in a few days. She will then be able to take you there, perhaps for a private visit.

These are the two most obvious locations, but she will also examine her family’s library. However, there may be a further ‘favour’ for more information. She wants to know if this is reasonable. Oh, and she also asks you to call her Pellenea. This was apparently the dead woman’s name. Maybe we want to take a Cool test here?

A subtle hint from our sponsors...... "One more outburst against the local elites, and YOU'RE all dead!"
