Summary 50
A Half Century!
In game terms, developments were slim. You descended into the depths and discovered who the real pirates were: dwarfs.
You attack the base, and are ultimately successful. However, the dwarfs mostly make good their escape in boats and the monitor - blowing up equipment as they leave. Overall, a tactical victory for you - but one that you failed to fully capitalise on. On the plus side, the monitor apparently took hits from a dying Morgan and was scuttled in the lake as Jakob watched on
Okay, a synopsis of issues and events:
Morgan died heroically whilst trying to sink the monitor.
Tomas heroically charged the enemy on his own, but was knocked down by a volley of musketry. (Mark you failed four tests on your heroic idiocy, and lost a Fate Point.)
You variously collected 'stuff', although your soldiers were much better at this looting lark! Of interest, were a series of markings on the crates, which appeared to be some sort of official seals or devices. You did not recognise them.
You freed 9 slaves, all marked and mutilated. As 7 were Hill Men, the soldiers insisted that all of these were economic property and part of their loot. I am not sure you have resolved the slavery issue? The dwarf slew all the goblinoid slaves (or what he claimed were goblinoids) in cold blood.
We left the session with you having gone down a last passage, which had ended at an entrance guarded by a new statue of a cowled dwarf within a pentagram. All over was the dwarf rune for "orc/ enemy/ foul thing". Beyond is utterly dark. We stopped here.
You have the captured dwarf that you 'freed' last session. He tells you that the dwarfs this side of the mountains have been cut off from their kindred to the west, and some have become bitter towards the invaders who have driven them away and killed them for sport - i.e. the Kislevans, and their ancestors. Those you fought have chosen to seek revenge, but are a minority.
Remember that there is at least one entrance in the cliff face that you have yet to explore.
You have payment to collect from Bossan, and then to wind up the embassage once the Bocland has finished. You can then collect your reward from the Vsevolod Communion (motto: "We keep our promises").
You might want to review past summaries to decide what you want to do next, besides continue on this thread. Most notable (when you left) are the Beg's reaction to a message ("The dice are on the carpet"), the moves towards sending the field army to the west in order to recapture Arenski Okram's tin (now found to have gold) mines and his besieged forces, the location of your various friends, the identity of the people who have attacked you, "Konev", the troll migration, the mysterious Empire goods and individuals, the underground stuff at Czluchowo, Prince Erdelyi's mysterious supporters, Prince Hayk's whereabouts, and the location of your falx. Or anything else. Like visit friends (you do have a few!).
