(in which a long lost player returns)

Electing to sneak out at night, you came across the camp of your attackers. Good work by Wolf scouted them out and a fireball-throwing Morgan following a mounted charging Pelwhyn (a 'friend' of La's) chased them off. Amongst the detritus of the fight you found an armband belonging to the Worlds Edge Mountain Tin Company and some freshly minted Hill Men GCs. You reached Baku safely.

Here you interacted with various parties, learning that the Governor and Admiral were at loggerheads. The latter disbelieved your story about the Lake, so you decided to support the Governor on returning to the Beg and Preslav. Returning to Preslav, you met up with Heidi again, learning that Sigrid and Lanz seemed to have been attacked. Good news at last was heard, as Arenski Okram was found not to be dead, but had broken out from his beleaguered base with some men, to bid for help and bring the news that he had found gold - enough to fund the entire war effort. You also learned that a number of pro-active plans were under consideration. All these seemed to be put to one side, when the Beg overheard a crier calling the message "The dice are on the carpet". The message originated with a Marauder here on an embassy mission. Before you could investigate further, you, together with the Bocland, rush off to Raska to discuss returning to pre-invasion relations. The pragmatic Raskans make clear their terms, the most immediate to you being your employment and a demand that the United Commonwealth obtain a new leader, not tarnished with inefficiency or mismanagement and more tolerant with less persecution of minorities (Hill Men, Marauders, you foreigners - even Gospodars!). In addition, they demanded Confederation, the right to bury their dead in Barrowlands again and a number of trade terms.

We left the game here, with each of you negotiating separately for the fee to raid Sisimithrae and gain revenge for the death of Diophantes Bossan's son.
