Summary 45
The Heroic Idiocy Session
You set off on the convoy and travelled for three days, and little adventure, before arriving at the "City of Czluchowo" - population circa 50. Another example of Kislevan central planning and the reality within the Colonies. The only people that you met along the way were dead, a small number of KiSec troops burying more dead (and you speculated upon the reason that their heraldic device was a blindfolded bear rampant) and a shadowing force of (possible) Marauders. The region appears desolated.
Brother Ziemowit runs the local shrines found here, the only notable features among the 30 or so hovels. Here are found a shrine to the Vsevolod, a giant stone pillar (said to be Sithon's Sword (falx, machaira etc)) and Sithon's Tomb (or one of them!) - which is a shrine to the alleged founder of the Hill Men. There are also some sunken areas of land, one of which has a "dry well", that might be religious icons and a number of wooden figures, which you did not investigate. The Brother had a problem with Sithon's Tomb (three of his brothers had disappeared in there) and you eventually decided to help - for healing assistance and a warrant requiring members of the Vsevolod Communion give you any reasonable aid as recompense.
Passing through an overgrown entry archway, you entered the shrine and found the familiar burial pillars from a similar site, together with a much larger central one. The probable cause of the disappearances was quickly uncovered as you found a broken down wall and thence a giant spider. Kara was first into the idiot role as she jumped through the hole after the spider without any thought to a plan. Thomas followed quickly on both counts. Both succumbed equally quickly to the spider. Other party members rallied around, chasing the creature, which eventually dropped both prey. Unfortunately, Wolf started on the session's habit of shooting his own side as he tried to hit the spider dangling two PCs before it. Fortunately for both, its poison seemed fated to be very weak and they recovered quickly. The chase took you into another room, this holding the sarcophagus of a dwarf. The lid represented a dwarf in full chain and with a face plate and horned helmet; you cursorily examined the bones inside and determined them to be a dwarf. The walls were carved in scenes of a great dwarf (resembling a slayer) marching up to a large stone henge portal, slaying chaos as he went. There he slew more chaos and gained followers with which he slew more chaos. He then returned around the wall, slaying humans, dwarfs and elves as he went with his followers. You noted that this room seemed to be part of the first, but the latter had been blocked off at some time later. Presumably this weaker wall had collapsed partially quite recently.
All of this noise aroused a great beast, which some of you recognised as a chimera. Fortunately, it appeared to be tethered. Deciding to be heroic and that the creature had to be killed, you took advantage to shoot it with missiles and spells (to good effect) and also roused some beetles. Continuing the trend of idiotic heroism, you decided to attack these as well, the chimera attacking others. You used some dead beetles as food bait to draw out the chimera, and again shot at it. Then another plan was concocted and you attacked the chimera in melee for the same sessional reasons of heroic idiocy that appeared to have descended upon most of the party. Of course, half the party then backed out of the plan as the attack began and Wolf shot Morgan in the back as he tardily decided to enter combat. Eventually the creature was slain through a mixture of idiocy and heroism. Jakob once again cowardly looked to his own survival, as did Whyss Par. Kara died. As Jakob pointed out; who did that make the stupid one? Morgan maniacally had set about the creature and Thomas felled the chimera with a mighty hit; neither seem quite the same. Indeed, many of the party appear rather more disturbed than normal.
You did not find the missing brothers.
Returning to be healed, rested and praised, you seem to be very well regarded by the caravan people. Kara was buried. You spent the night with minimal guards. Understandable as you were tired, but irresponsible given what your primary job was. A mysterious assassin crept in, slew the Communion brother on guard and then the Princess. Only Morgan's wakening for no apparent reason managed to prevent the assassin completing the slaying professionally (and he did not immediately raise the alarm either for some reason), and at the end of the session we were awaiting news on the Princess' condition. You took this out on the assassin (a halfling) who a number of you seriously wounded (Thomas once again hitting deep) and are currently chasing him into the horizon!
