Summary 26

An eventful encounter with some strange lizard-men creatures finds you fighting for your lives, but you pull through. Lothar and Nebala ultimately save you, with aid from some Kislevan engineers and their gunpowder. Unfortunately, this is to be taken out of your pay - which Jakob manages to recover when you agree to investigate what - on investigation - appears to be a temple or burial place. Destroying a creature of fire, you find little of interest as you cannot read Khazalid. Wilhelm thinks to ask Professor Diliberto (against Jakob's objections) and he seems to understand the writing (intriguing in itself - as Flint observes) but tells you little. He then walks off - apparently to his tent. Both sites are claimed for the Tsar - though Flint makes his disagreement plain and forcefully. The only (apparent) treasure that you gained was one very rusty and damaged mizpal sword that most of you found uneasy to hold but Wilhelm quite liked. Sounds chaotic to me!!

Clearance is taking longer than first thought, until an envoy appears claiming to be from Prince Hayk. As he is dirty, smelly and ugly no-one entirely believes him. Who can WheatCEF send, then?! Travelling with your guide, Rhebulas, you make fair progress. A lone female meets you at one point as Rhebulas is off scouting, worrying you as to how she crept up. She tells you nothing about herself and seems interested that you are the Tsar's expeditionary force. On leaving, she invites Jakob (who declines) and then Wilhelm (for whom Nebala declines) along with her.

Continuing the journey, Rhebulas again mysteriously disappears looking for a new camp as the old one is deserted. You prepare for a trap and sure enough a giant appears! However, electing to talk (squeak) rather than fight, you discover that this is Prince Hayk! He offers to help your force and re-supply you, providing you with intelligence information. All he requires is a little favour…. One final point; the woman that met you would appear to be Katerine Bokha, Princess of Kislev and (probable) heir to the throne.
