Summary 19
You set off with Frederickus after obtaining some equipment. Making good time, you determined to approach the mound from the west. This seemed to be a good move, as an expected waiting party defended the mound. It proved difficult to persuade the peasant militiamen to rout or the Ulrican priestess to accept your assurances. However, a variety of tactical ploys and consistent propaganda barrages from Lothar eventually cleared the field for you. The mound was yours! Sadly, there was very little to get excited about. Professor Stradovski had left. Rummaging around the campsite still earned you some valuable food, a little coin and assorted equipment. Wealth indeed! And the seven horses were a luxury you know that you are never going to be able to keep!!
As you searched the mound and Jakob took more notes for his forthcoming book (a sure best-seller), you heard a banging and then a faint voice. Eventually you freed Nebala, who it appeared had been magically ensorcelled to prevent someone like the Professor doing exactly what he had done. Speaking a peculiar language that you are unfamiliar with, she makes little sense. At first believing that she was a fantasy uber-babe, you realised that she was pretty normal, albeit rather resplendent in her very nice gear. Lothar was already planning on how to spend the loot he would get for her stuff. Even with the aid of magical translation, conversation was difficult since you had little in common or cultural terms of references. Indeed, whilst she was clearly human, it appeared she seemed to regard herself as an elf and very different than you. Very strange. What was clear is that some terrible evil was afoot, and you determined to help her and bring your chase to a final conclusion. Nebala believed that she knew where the Professor had gone, and she was proven correct. Some good detective work, annihilation of a demonic fly and some good teamwork ultimately got you down a defended 100' deep shaft.
The date is early on the 9th Sigmarzeit. You are at the bottom of the shaft having just beaten a further three henchman (which suggests that you have killed - or routed - all six of which you are aware). Unfortunately, you are all badly wounded.
